Model rail enthusiasts enjoy only thing more then showing off their pride and joy: seeing other prototypes and displays that they can then go home to compete with ! Fortunately for showing off is inherent in each of us a chance to see some of the most spectacular displays that is not hard, and in many cases, requires only a short trip because there are literally hundreds of museums throughout the country with tens of thousands of locomotives, cars and the scenes between them.

Most museums charge a fee for admission, but it is normally very low (average 6) and the proceeds typically go to the maintenance and upkeep of models and facilities . Some sites are run by private entities, while others are headed by a state or municipality, but they all have one thing in common: people who like trains and model railroads are involved! There is hardly a state in the United States that does not have at least one major museum or a showcase for the model railroad and all are worth a visit, but some are worth making a trip to see even if you are interested only marginally.
